This case study covers a downpipe replacement in Regents Park, where an upper-roof downpipe ran through a lower roof and inside a wall.

Location: Regents Park, Logan
Service: Downpipe replacement and roof penetration sealing
Date: June 2026
The problem
A Regents Park homeowner had a downpipe from the upper roof that passed through a lower roof and ran inside a wall. Downpipes run this way can let water in where they pass through the roof, and problems inside the wall are hard to see.
What we found
Our plumber used a CCTV drain camera to inspect the stormwater line the downpipe connected to, so we knew its condition before replacing anything. The existing downpipe and the point where it passed through the lower roof needed attention.
Fixed-price options
Before starting any work, our plumber explained what he’d found and gave the homeowner fixed-price options. No hourly rate and no surprises. The homeowner chose the option that suited them and approved the work before we began.
What we did
- Inspected the stormwater with a CCTV drain camera
- Removed the existing downpipe
- Supplied and installed a new 90mm round downpipe
- Connected the new downpipe to the existing stormwater
- Sealed the roof penetration where the downpipe passes through the lower roof
The result
The upper roof now drains through a new downpipe into the existing stormwater, and the roof penetration is sealed against the weather.
When to consider a downpipe replacement in Regents Park
Downpipes that run through roofs or walls can leak where they pass through. As a result, water can damage framing before anyone notices. In addition, blocked or undersized downpipes can overflow in heavy rain.
See our gutter and downpipe services for more. Logan City Council also has information on stormwater, and the Bureau of Meteorology issues heavy rain warnings.
