This case study covers a gas hot water job in Coorparoo, where an old continuous-flow unit had stopped working.

Gas hot water Coorparoo – The Plumbing Gang

Location: Coorparoo, Brisbane Southside
Service: Gas hot water replacement
Date: September 2026
Turnaround: Booked as urgent and completed the same day

The problem

The household’s gas continuous-flow hot water unit was more than ten years old and had stopped producing hot water altogether. They called first thing in the morning and the job was booked as urgent.

What we found

Our licensed plumber and gasfitter arrived just after 8:30am, checked the unit and confirmed it had reached the end of its life. Repairing a unit that age rarely makes sense, so he explained the options and gave fixed prices before any work started.

What we did

  • Isolated the power, water and gas, then removed the old unit
  • Installed a new large external gas continuous-flow water heater
  • Fitted a new 20mm isolation valve kit so the unit can be serviced easily in future
  • Upgraded sections of the gas line with new copper pipe
  • Tested and commissioned the system

Compliance

A gas compliance certificate was issued for the gas work, and the hot water replacement was registered with the QBCC as notifiable work (Form 4).

The result

The family had hot water again by about 2pm on the same day they called.

Choosing new gas hot water in Coorparoo

When a gas unit fails, it’s worth asking whether a like-for-like swap or a different system suits you best. For example, a continuous-flow unit heats water on demand, while a storage tank keeps hot water ready. Our team explains the options before any work starts, so you can choose with confidence.
