This case study covers a same-day hot water replacement in Hendra, after the tank began leaking from the base.

Location: Hendra, Brisbane Northside
Service: Hot water system replacement
Date: August 2026
Turnaround: Completed the same day
The problem
A Hendra homeowner noticed water leaking from the bottom of their electric storage hot water system. A leak from the base of the tank usually means the cylinder has corroded through and can’t be repaired.
What we did
- Isolated and drained the old system and removed it
- Supplied and installed a new 250L stainless steel electric storage hot water system
- Replaced a section of copper water pipe
- Fitted a complete lead-free valve set, including a tempering valve, so hot water at the bathroom is delivered at a safe temperature
- Ran full power and water tests before handing over
Compliance
Replacing a water heater is notifiable work in Queensland, so we lodged the QBCC Form 4 and provided the paperwork.
The result
The new system was installed, tested and running by about 4pm, the same day the homeowner called.
When a hot water replacement in Hendra makes sense
A leak from the base of a storage tank usually means the inner tank has corroded. Unfortunately, that can’t be repaired, so replacement is the safe choice. In contrast, a leaking valve or fitting can often be fixed for far less. That’s why our plumbers check the cause first and explain your options before any work starts.
After the install, we lodge the required QBCC Form 4, so the work is on record with the QBCC. To compare system types, see our hot water replacement page or the Energy Rating website.
