This case study covers a hotel shower leak repair in Newstead, where water was showing up in the rooms below.

Location: Newstead, Brisbane
Service: Commercial leak detection and shower repair
Date: July 2026
Turnaround: Inspection, leak detection and repair over several visits
The problem
A Newstead hotel had water showing up in rooms below several upper-level showers.
Finding the source
Our plumber inspected the showers on three levels and recommended leak detection and shower testing. We then carried out internal leak detection in the affected room and found water was getting through the shower grout and around the screen.
What we did
- Carried out internal leak detection to confirm the source
- Provided a fixed-price quote for the repair before any work started
- Removed the existing shower screen and old grout
- Regrouted the shower with epoxy grout, which is much more water-resistant than standard grout
- Supplied and installed a replacement shower screen
Working in a hotel
The work was booked around room availability so the hotel could keep trading, and the room was returned ready for guests.
The result
The leak was traced to its real source and fixed properly, instead of patching ceilings below.
Planning a shower leak repair in Newstead buildings
In multi-storey buildings, one leaking shower can affect several rooms below. That’s why we test each shower separately before any repair. In addition, we plan work around guests, so rooms are out of action for as short a time as possible.
