Noisy pipes Springwood – The Plumbing Gang

Location: Springwood, Logan
Service: Tap and valve repairs
Date: October 2026
Turnaround: One visit

The problem

A Springwood homeowner was hearing an intermittent loud thrumming or moaning sound in the walls. A worn tap washer or valve vibrating as water flows past it often causes noises like this.

What we did

  • Replaced the hot and cold wall tap tops in the bathroom, plus a single tap top
  • Replaced both washing machine taps with new easy-clean taps
  • Fitted a new braided flexible connection to the toilet cistern
  • Secured the front garden tap with a new clip

The washing machine connections didn’t sit out from the wall in the standard way, so our plumber modified the fittings to suit.

The result

We installed and tested all new parts with no leaks, and replaced the worn parts behind the noise.

Common causes of noisy pipes in Springwood homes

A worn tap washer, a loose pipe clip or water hammer often causes noisy pipes when a tap or appliance shuts off quickly. In addition, high water pressure makes all of these worse. So, if your pipes bang or hum, it’s worth getting them checked before a joint fails.

Our plumbers can test your pressure and fit a regulator if needed. See our water pressure page for more. Logan Water manages the mains, while pipes on your side of the meter are yours, and the QBCC licenses the plumbers who work on them. Finally, older pipework may also benefit from new isolation valves, which make future repairs quicker.
